        After migration from China mainland for a bright future in Thailand, a Hakka man, our grandfather became a sales person in a shoes store. Once he married and had a little daughter, with his work experiences of the previous job, he decided to make shoes and sell by himself in 1954.

        Silp-Fah store, founded in 1959, was our first shoes store in Bangkok. Our shoes were handmade and sold by ourselves. Later, we changed the business model from retailer to wholesaler. We reduced margin, but increased in volume. The business growth kept higher little by little. YES! that was our right road.

​

However, when we knew “ internet”, the world is narrowed. Both transportation and communication are accessible for everyone no matter how long distance it is. As soon as “free trade” and “eCommerce” were coming, the small local business has been dying eventually, same as ours. We had attempted to remain the business as much as we could. However, in 2017, we decided to stop the business and closed our factory.

In 2018, we saw a value in our small factory building, we looked for a professional team to renovate the old house into hostel with maintaining the clues of shoes factory as much as possible to remind us of our ancestor’s meaningful history. In May 2019, the building was renewed with unique style. We named it as “Shoes Maker Home”.
